Our image of God must go

Chapter 2 is now uploaded on Youtube: I must admit, I thought the technical difficulties would have been resolved after Chapter 1 but Chapter 2 has proved to be more complex, the technical side of powerpoint is perhaps slightly easier as I go along.  The presentation can be downloaded as a Powerpoint file here . When is the next chapter coming out for 'Honest to God'?

The next chapter has caused a few problems but I am almost there. Like all controversial statements, there is so much to say, so little time. I find Robinson to be a bit confusing, slightly all over the place. He is asking a lot of questions and not asking for or giving answers. This chapter produced the greatest controversy.  As I have said, Robinson in his professional life was a New Testament theologian, not a Systematic Theologian. That means, he was not primarily concerned with the philosophical system behind theology, he writes about this because it is 'trendy' because in the 60s a lot of debate was ongoing and social change was constant.

Doctor Pusey heard the call

Below is the text of my poem for the Pusey House Creative Arts booklet. I have always had a deep curiosity for the Oxford Movement but up until recently, it was mostly about John Henry Newman. When I started to read about Dr Pusey, I realised he was a force to be reckoned with, even if he wasn't as well known today. I don't write poetry that often at the moment but I feel this might be quite good. Dr Pusey was calling for a new movement of holiness. I like church history because there is the opportunity to understand the impact of one particular person at one specific point in time.  The 1830s were a turning point, another turning point was the 1960s. The interesting thing is I still don't think the full impact of the 1960s has been felt, perhaps not even appreciated. The world is different now but the issues they were dealing with have not gone away. Doctor Pusey heard the call When Doctor Pusey read the lines: “Alas! Can a greater evil befall Christians, than for their t

Reluctant Revolution

Please view the video above that I have just posted on Youtube. I am starting a series of presentations on 'Honest to God' by John A. T. Robinson. The video is a summary of the first chapter. Sometimes I am writing as if I am Robinson trying to introduce this controversial book. The presentation does not offer my views but is a simple summary. I might add a presentation at the end with my conclusions or criticisms. Robinson was intensely criticised for his book in the 1960s. It must be remembered that professionally he was a New Testament theologian and not a systematic theologian. The above is a Youtube video. You can also download Reluctant Revolution as a powerpoint - here
